Just when it seemed like Disney’s Marvel Cinematic Universe would swallow up everything, Sony — which owns the rights to Spider-Man — is expanding their own ‘lil Marvel Universe to television.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, former The Walking Dead showrunner Angela Kang is moving from AMC to Amazon and will oversee the new series Silk: Spider Society. The series is executive produced by Phil Lord and Chris Miller (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse) and will first stream in the U.S. on MGM+ (the streaming platform that is now known as Epix) and globally via Prime Video.

“Amy Pascal, Phil Lord, Chris Miller and Sony’s recent live-action and animated reimagining of the Spider-Man franchise has represented some of the most dynamic superhero storytelling in film,” said Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon Studios, in a statement to THR. “Together with Angela Kang’s creative vision, we couldn’t be more pleased to bring Silk: Spider Society to our MGM+ and Prime Video customers.”

“I’m beyond thrilled to be joining the Amazon Studios family for this next chapter of my career,” added Kang. “I look forward to working with the executive team on diverse, character-forward, watercooler shows for a global audience and am so excited to dive in to my first challenge — bringing Korean-American superhero Silk to life on screen.”

Kang is also bringing her AMC projects over to Amazon with her, one of which is the series adaptation of Rebecca Roanhorse’s Black Sun, with Roanhorse set to write the script. Kang’s work on the adaptation of Drew Magary’s The Postmortal is also moving to Amazon, with The Black Phone director Scott Derrickson exec producing.

The Silk comic book series from Dan Slott and Humberto Ramos focuses on Cindy Moon, a Korean-American woman who gets bitten by the same spider Peter Parker does. The show is the first in what is expected to be several Marvel shows set in the Sony Marvel Universe.

No news yet on when Silk, Black Sun or The Postmortal will make their way to a television screen near you.
